The Family Institute | Courses
The Family Institute run a number of postgraduate and professional courses at the University of Glamorgan. The Institute offers those who wish to become Psychotherapeutic Counsellors an exciting route to professional qualification and registration.
Those who have no previous counselling training are welcome, as are those with previous training or experience who want to develop their counselling skills and prior learning in counselling or related fields.
Postgraduate Courses
PG Cert in Systemic Counselling
This two-module course includes the curriculum for foundation and intermediate level training. As such, it satisfies the first two years of a four-year postgraduate training programme leading to professional registration as a UKCP Registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist.
MSc Systemic Psychotherapy
This course forms Years Three to Four of The Family Institute’s psychotherapy training programme and builds on the Institute’s long experience of teaching psychotherapy. It is designed to meet UK Council for Psychotherapy, UK Association for Family Therapy and European training standards.
MSc Systemic Counselling
This MSc Systemic Counselling programme aims to provide an integrated and coherent programme based on an interactional approach that focuses on holistic thinking and is grounded in systems theory. It is designed to equip counsellors to meet challenges in practice in health and social care, as well as the wider multi-disciplinary context.
Professional Courses
Dip, BSc (Hons) Systemic Counselling
The programme aims to offer maximum opportunity for students to integrate theory, counselling skills, knowledge of counselling practice contexts and personal development. Modules and assessments are designed to relate to one another to facilitate such integration.
